"The majority of violations are related to product labeling, accounting for 92.7 percent of the identified discrepancies," the department stated.

In another 7.2 percent of samples, specialists identified issues with microbiological indicators.

Note: Microbiological indicators for dietary supplements reflect the content of bacteria, yeast, and mold. During inspections, specialists determine whether their levels exceed permissible limits and check for the presence of dangerous microorganisms. Failure to meet these requirements means the supplement does not comply with established microbiological safety standards.

Over nine kilograms of supplements removed from sale

The department reported that following the inspections, the committee issued more than 55 enforcement orders. For instance, specialists seized and recalled over nine kilograms of non-compliant supplements from the market.

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee reminded the public that dietary supplements are not medicines. They are not intended for self-treatment of diseases and cannot replace medications prescribed by a doctor.

When purchasing supplements, specialists advise:

  • Checking for state registration and relevant documentation;
  • Carefully reviewing the ingredients, expiration date, and product labeling;
  • Purchasing from reliable sellers.
