Tengrinews.kz — A new service has been launched on eGov.kz and in eGov Mobile that allows relatives to be notified if a person is hospitalized in an emergency and is unable to contact them. Users can designate up to three trusted contacts in advance, and they will automatically receive an SMS once the hospitalization is registered.
Here is how the new service works and what information relatives will receive.
How relatives can find out about a hospitalization
To use the service, users need to register trusted contacts on the eGov.kz portal or in the eGov Mobile app. Up to three people can be added, according to the Ministry of Health’s press service.
How to register a trusted contact on eGov.kz
- Log in to the eGov.kz portal.
- Select the service “Registration of Trusted Contacts for Notification in Case of Hospitalization.”
- Enter the trusted contact’s IIN. The person must be over 18 and registered in the Mobile Citizens Database.
- Confirm consent to the processing of personal data and the transfer of health information, then submit the request.
“The person specified will receive an SMS asking them to confirm or reject the registration. To confirm, they must reply with code 911; to reject it, with code 912. They have up to five hours to make a decision,” the statement said.
If the person confirms the registration, the user signs the request. The trusted contact’s details are then transferred to the Ministry of Healthcare’s information system.
How to register a contact in eGov Mobile
- On the app’s home screen, select the “Public Services” section.
- Go to “Healthcare” and find the service “Registration of Trusted Contacts for Notification in Case of Hospitalization.”
- Complete the registration process in the same way as on the portal.
Processing the application in the Ministry of Healthcare’s information system takes up to 10 minutes.
When the hospitalization SMS will arrive
Aidar Kassenov, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health’s Department for Electronic Healthcare Development, explained that the notification is sent automatically after a medical worker registers the patient’s hospitalization.
The trusted contact will receive an SMS from 1414. The message will state that the person has been hospitalized and will include the name and address of the medical facility.
This means relatives will not have to wait for the patient to contact them. They will be able to find out which medical facility the person was taken to and, if necessary, contact the patient or the hospital.
What if the patient cannot identify themselves
Aidar Kassenov also explained what happens when a person is brought to a hospital without documents or is unable to provide personal details.
“If a person is unable to state their name or provide information about themselves, doctors may involve the police to establish the patient’s identity,” he said.
After registering a trusted contact, users can check its current status on eGov.kz under “My Profile — Personal Account,” or in eGov Mobile under “Messages — Personal Account History.”
